All those most negative personality traits that we do not dare to recognize as ours and project them on others stand for the irrational Shadow. Dr. Jeckyll and Mr Hide is a good example or Lord Vader.
In Jungian psychology, the Shadow also represents the totality of the unconcious and is the seed of creativity.
